Flappy owl

This was I project I worked on with another student for the practical course "active sports games" at the chair for augmented reality at TUM.

We worked on Motion Capturing using Microsoft Kinect and used this as controls for a game we developed in Unity. We wanted to make sure to make the controls as easy to understand as possible to prevent the player from becoming annoyed.

For our game we took Flappy Bird as inspiration and ported the game idea to 3D and using motion control. For this we rigged a bird character and mapped the upper body of the player to this. By moving his arms the bird will become faster and fly higher. The player also can move sideways.

With these controls he has to dodge different obstacles and try to collect special items. As with the original flappy bird game it is very important to time your movements correctly.
